Drug overdoses now kill more Americans than guns

(CBS News, Dec. 9) Heroin overdoses surpassed gun homicides last year for the first time. Last year had more than 50,000 overall drug overdoses, the highest in overdose history. Heroin rose 23 percent in one year to 12,989, while synthetic opioid deaths rose 73 percent to 9,580. Illegal use of Oxycontin and Vicotin killed 17,536. Drugs took 52,404 lives last year, while cars took 37,757 and gun deaths were 36,252 (including homicides and suicides). READ MORE.
