Snorting cocaine just once can be addictive

(Postmedia Network, May 25) New research suggests users can get hooked on cocaine after just the first use.

According to the study, which came out of Montreal’s McGill University, using cocaine quickly releases dopamine (the chemical that pushes people to look for pleasurable activities) to a part of the brain that promotes constant use of the drug.

In addition, they found that users – even if they don’t take the drug on a regular basis – could start to crave cocaine by just looking at a picture of it. Read more.
